The Forgotten Zodiac

Quinn and Quint scrambled out of the trapdoor with each others help, Ophile springing up and scrabbling his way after them. "I'm okay," Ophile announced, finally making it through the trapdoor, shaking himself off. "Oh, sun. That's not good," He shook himself again, moving to stand in the shadows behind the others.

"There's only one way out of this valley either way," Quint pointed out. "We shouldn't stop."

Cancer nodded at Quint and then continued walking, though he turned around and walked backward so he could see Ophile. "What's wrong with the sun? I thought it was very nice."

"It weakens me, of course. I'm a creature of shadow, bright sun like this can fry me faster than fish over hot oil." Ophile answered, not sounding too happy. Still, the others were casting enough of a shadow for him to stay in and not burn.

Igneous looked sad for Ophile. "Oh, you poor thing!" he said.

Ophile just blinked, tilting his head one way. "I'm not poor. I don't need money, I just need food and shadow to survive, really. The Zodiacs forms cast shadows, and with you here, I have food. So I'm good." He said, once again curious as to how humans would react to hearing such things. He couldn't help himself, really.

Igneous staggered slightly as Kazue suddenly burst into laughter. Rin shushed Ophile, frowning deeply. "He doesn't meen that, boy! He wouldn't eat you!"

"She's right," Kazue said, smirking, "I can't believe that even a dog would want to eat a human," he said disparagingly. Rin's glare turned onto him. Igneous was just standing there, mouth opening and closing as he waited for words to come out. He wasn't sure if this was serious or not.

SAGE SAYS:

Cancer frowned. "Ophile, how would you feed off him without actually eating him? I thought you required physical nurishment..."

"I kind of meant that I would actually eat him, but I was trying to get a reaction. Human reactions intruique me. Sorry, Igneous, I won't actually eat you, no." Ophile seemed to smile a bit. "Also, Kazue, I'm not a dog. I'm a Spectral Wolf, according to what Sylas named me to be. I do sometimes wonder why Sylas made me, but I haven't the foggiest where he is, so I can't ask. I do wonder what happened to him..."

Igneous exhaled with relief. "Oh, you got me," he said. Kazue snickered. "I know what you are. I was using human terms," he said. A look of passing anger went over Igneous's face, but it was quickly gone. I mean, who could be mad? Igneous was so happy to be outside, nothing else mattered.

((Poor Iggy. He's the only non-immortal there, /and/ I will eternally think of him as Iggy.))

Cancer looked at Rin. "What, he can say things like that but I can't? That is /blatant/ favoritism. Come on, yell at him." He crossed his arms and pretended to be annoyed. "I'm not talking until you do."

Ophile snuffled a bit, like stifling laughter. "Yes, I suppose I did 'get' you, Igneous. I would never consider actually eating a human. Killing, only if I must. I do hope I don't have to, though...I've never killed a human before. They're far too interesting for me to want to do anything of the sort."

"I guess you just won't talk, then, Darius." Quint rolled his eyes. "What a crying shame."

"Quint! Don't be like that!" Quinn frowned, but his twin just grinned.

Darius glared at Quint, but the poke wasn't enough to get him to talk. He still insisted on staring at Rin's back, waiting for someone to say something.

Rin smiled inwardly. "I don't know what your'e talking about, Darius," she said. "So therefore, I see no reason to yell at Kazue. He was just poking fun," she said.

Darius uncrossed his arms but didn't stop glowering. "I wasn't talking  about Kazue. I was talking about Ophile. He's being meaner to Igneous than I ever was." He pouted. Clearly, the downsides of immortality in Cancer's case came in his ability to throw fits like a five-year old, and change his rules like one too.

"I was only prying for reactions," Ophile blinked, ears dropping on his head. "But you're right...I'm very sorry, Igneous, that was truly horrible of me, and completely uncalled for."

Quint rolled his eyes. "Can we talk about something more, I don't know, important than this? Where are we planning on going, exactly, and when are we going to move?"

"You could have asked nicer," Quinn sighed.

"Yes, but you didn't, so I asked my way." Quint shrugged.

Rin looked to Daruis. "I don't know where we're going. You've got the map, Daruis," she said.

Igneous piped up. "Oh, it's alright, as long as you really didn't mean it," he said. "The eating me part, that is."

((We should skip to where they stop for the night, yes. This is going to be more realistic than ours, Hannah, because they have to actually eat regular meals to survive, haha. Okay, who's doing the time skip? -hides under table-))
