The Forgotten Zodiac

Quinn quickly let go of Darius and hugged Quint instead, crying into his twin's shirt. They were polar opposites in this way; Quinn got scared rather easily, while Quint was rarely scared, if ever. That, and Quint never cried. Quinn was the soft one, you see.

"Yes, but Quint, who was outside your shield at the time, would have been hit. That is what I refused to allow." Ophile nodded, watching Darius leave with the twins before sitting next to Rin, in case the violent human decided to go after her next.

Rin reached down and stroked the large cainine's head. "I wish they wouldn't do that," she said softly. "Why does anyone ever want to hurt anyone?" she asked. "When did the world get so messed up? When did I look away and let it turn into this?" she said. Yule was glaring at the remaining Zodiac in the room, but didn't dare try anything for fear of being bitten. She'd have to treat Daron's hand; usually, she would take an injury like that to Rin, who could fix it easily, but it seemed the Pisces had no intent of healing the man whom had just tried to strike one of her... comerades.

Once they were far enough away, Cancer lifted the shield, allowing him to move much faster than he could otherwise. "KAZUE? Hello? Anyone here?"

Kazue wandered out into the hallway, hearing his name called. "What?" he asked, still rubbing his jaw with one hand. "Is everyone all right?" By 'everyone', Kazue meant only the Zodiacs. He looked to Quint and Quinn, then to Darius. "Where's Rin, you just left her there?" he asked, bristling slightly.

"It isn't your fault, Rin. Humans are just like this," Ophile sighed, nuzzling Rin's hand, happy to be petted. He turned his head and glared right back at Yule, baring his teeth while Daron wrapped up his hand in a cloth napkin he grabbed off the table. It wasn't too deep at all, only a little bit of blood, but it hurt like crazy for some reason.

"Mm, you'll lose feeling in that in another hour." Ophile glanced towards Daron. "But only temporarily. I held back on purpose, human, you should be grateful." He had a small venom of sorts in his teeth that could be painful and deadly, when put in the right place.

"O-Ophile is still with her," Quinn spoke up. "He bit Daron on the hand..."

"But yeah, we're all fine." Quint nodded. "They wouldn't do anything to Rin, they're smarter than that...right?"

"They intended to kill the twins, of course I left with them. Ophile bit Daron pretty hard before letting him hit Quinn, I'm sure he'll protect Rin. You can go back and get her if you like, for now, I think we should find a way to stop the tracker, or at least get it to give off a false signal."

Kazue sighed. "Alright, she's got the attack hound, then," he said. He looked to Quinn. "Well, I can, ah, sense where it is, but that goes as far as my usefulness. Unless you needed me to break a rib or something. But I know that is unessecary. Oh, don't give me that face, I wouldn't hurt you," he said.

Rin patted Ophile again. "Good boy. I'm glad you're here, you know just the right things to say, don't you?" she said, a dim smile on her face. "Well, we should go, catch up with the others. See if I can help Quinn."

Quinn had recoiled at the mention of breaking a rib, but he relaxed when Kazue added the last part. "Its fine, we'll figure something out." Quint nodded. At any rate, he could put Quinn in a more relaxed state of mind with a small illusion, which would make it a lot easier as far as pain went. Sedatives and the like didn't work on either of them.

Ophile barked happily. "I normally wouldn't even speak unless I had to, but talking is way too much fun." He stood, nodding. "They probably will need your help. Let's go, then."

Rin stood up and walked by Yule, who glared at her as she went by. Rin didn't seem to mind.

Kazue smiled at Quinn. "Yeah, we'll figure something out, so don't worry," he said. Rin meandered up at that point, smiling as she saw Kazue actually have an expression on his face. "Well, have you all thought of anything, yet?" she asked.

Quinn took several steps away from Darius, letting go of Quint. Without warning, he turned and bolted down the hallway, bursting into tears as he ran. "Darius!" Quint yelped. "Why would you say that?! You know how sensitive he is! Quinn, come back!" He called, but Quinn didn't stop, turning the corner and running out of sight.

Ophile blinked. "Smooth."

"I haven't seen him in years, I forgot. Besides... It might work." Cancer shrugged and followed Quinn down the hall. "I'll go tell him I didn't mean it."

Rin stared at Daruis in disbelief. "Don't tell me you really meant that," she said. She looked to Ophile. "Go after them, see to it that those humans don't get any ideas," she said. Kazue went back to being completely unconcerned. He rubbed his jaw again. "Well, I'm going to bed. Call me if you two think of something," he said.

Yule was walking down the same hall that Quinn was running down. When he smacked into her, she grabbed him. "You!" she spat.

"Very well," Ophile nodded, taking off after Cancer, but slowing down once he caught up.

Quinn looked up at Yule in shock, starting to tremble. "There, we'll just cut it out here, then," Daron growled, drawing his sword.

"N-no, please..." Quinn tried to pull himself from Yule's grip, but...

Yule was pretty strong for a human woman. She kept a good grip on Quinn. "HUrry up Darius, who knows when the others will show up, this could be our only chance!" she said.

Cancer ran up behind Quinn, stopping short when he saw Yule and Daron. "Put him down, humans." One hand reached down for his sword, right hand gripping the hilt of his sword. "I thought you were our friends here? Besides, the damage has already been done."

Daron nodded, resting the tip of his blade on Quinn's chest, digging in the point. "Quit squirming, you're less likely to die," He growled, cutting deeper as Cancer showed up. Quinn let out a bone-chilling scream, tears streaming down his face all the more now, but he didn't stop struggling. "We don't care, Darius, we're--"

Ophile slammed into him, teeth threatening to clamp into Daron's throat. "Foolish human!" He spat, digging his claws in angrily. "Leave Quinn alone! Who said you could do that?!"

Cancer dove forward, pulling his sword from his scabbard and stepping toward Yule. "Stop, Daron. Or shall I do to Yule what you're doing to him?"

Yule dropped Quinn, terror in her eyes. "Daron, you blasted fool, I told you to hurry!" she spat, before quickly running off.

Rin came down the hall shortly after that, Kazue in tow. HIs fists were clenching and unclenching as he glared at Daron. Rin set immediately to trying to heal Quinn.

Cancer glared at Daron, then turned to Kazue and Rin. "I think leaving would be a really good idea on our part. These humans clearly aren't as enamored with us as they like to pretend they are."
