The Forgotten Zodiac

Tyler looked at Sylas in shock, then poked him in the leg. "He doesn't feel like ET. ET is all slimy and gross; you can tell." He bounced up next to Subject and looked over his hands at the folder. "Are there any pictures? Pictures would tell us if it was Sylas, you know."

Timothy immediately nodded and crawled up the bed, fitting himself between Sylas' chin and his knees. The bed was beginning to get crowded, but he found a space.

"No...no pictures," Subject shook his head. "Look, here's more stuff. 'EX-C01 is becoming restless. I took him for a walk today. He showed no signs of attempting to run. The shock collar placed on him is incredibly unnecissary. I plan to remove it tomorrow morning, and observe his reactions.' Then, the next page. 'EX-C01 has not changed his behavior since the removal of the collar. He remains friendly towards me and the other scientists, and complies to almost every test we have. The only ones he objects to are the ones which involve him fighting against the other subjects.' Yep, this definitely sounds like Sylas. We should ask him, when he wakes up..."

"Ugnn..." Sylas suddenly stirred, curling around Timothy in response to the boy's touch,

Tyler nodded sagely. "It sounds just like him. Whose the weasel-lady? She sounds nice." He turned and addressed Aurora suddenly. "Are you sure she was a weasel? Maybe she was a ninja, pretending to be a weasel."

Timothy sat up slightly, looking at Sylas in concern. That noise sounded like he was hurt. "S-Sylas?" he quivered, looking for another sign of movement. When he didn't immediately see any, he settled back down, resting his head on Sylas' neck.

"It probably was a she," Subject shrugged. "Probably a ninja. She seems to regard EX-C01 as more...human than she intends."

"At least she treated him well. Especially since he's your friend, you know?" Aurora shrugged.

Tyler nodded and smiled at Aurora adoringly. He was already deciding that he liked her; she was far too nice to be a weasel. "I'm glad they were nice to Sylas. I wouldn't like it if they were mean to him. That would make them nasty, nasty weasels. Weasels are already mean. They don't need to be meaner."

"Weasels...bad..." Sylas murmured.

"Sylas?" Aurora brushed his hair with her fingers again, only to yelp in alarm when Sylas' hand wrapped around her wrist and pushed her away.

"Back," He growled, curling up around Timothy even more, dragging the boy closer. "Who are you? Leave, now!" Subject kept his mouth shut, knowing that Sylas would appreciate Tyler telling him more than he.

Tyler did immediately, jumping up and standing between Aurora and Sylas. "It's okay, Sylas! She's not a weasel; she made Lotus go away! He was trying to eat me 'n' Subject, and we runned in here, and she came, and then she made Lotus go away. You can't make her leave, because she is my dishwasher."

Sylas' eyes remained narrowed, but he relaxed noticeably. His nose twitched a bit as he sat up, and he immiedately recoiled away from Aurora. "Silver," He hissed.

"I'm an Iyoui hunter." Aurora explained. "But I will not use this blade against you, I swear it..."

"Keep it away from me!" Sylas snarled viciously.

"Understood." Aurora removed it from her belt and rested it against the wall near the door. "There you have it." Sylas didn't relax after that, though, curling up on the far side of the room with Timothy still in his arms.

"You okay, Sylas? You seem more...hostile than normal." Subject blinked.

"I hate her." Sylas growled. His narrowed eyes flicked to Subject. "I hate you, too..."

Timothy sat up, leaning his head but not his chest away from Sylas. "Wh-what's wrong, Sylas? Are you ok-k-kay? You w-wwouldn't wake u-up, and I was woried." He sniffled slightly, not understanding why his usually gentle friend was so angry.

Tyler took Subject by the hand and led to the other side of them room, by Aurora. "We'll stay over here, Sylas. You can take another nap if you want to."

"No...no more sleeping. Lotis is coming. We need to leave..." Sylas leaned forward and rested his forehead against Timothy's. Behind him, white wings unfurled, feathered and thick. But even as they watched, they were overtaken with a dull grey color, nowhere near as pretty or eye-catching as the original color. Sylas' narrowed eyes had a dull anger that was easily covering the calm curiosity he usually had in his gaze.

((Is it Lotis or Lotus? I thought it was Lotus.))

Timothy's jaw dropped as he watched the wings unfurl. "S-S-Sylas, you have w-wings..." he whispered, staring at them in shock.

Tyler was much less quiet. "Subject, look! Sylas is part angel! Look how pretty his new wings are? How come he didn't have them before? I like them, they're so pretty!" He jumped up and down, clapping his hands.

"He can transform," Aurora rolled his eyes. "Has he never done that before?"

"I've never needed to." Sylas shrugged. "Come here, Tyler...I can carry you and Timothy. We can go far, far away from here."

"What about me?" Subject blinked. "And Quinn?"

"I hate you. And I hate her. I am leaving with Tyler and Timothy, and I am not going to come back." Sylas' eyes narrowed again as he turned his gaze on Subject.

Tyler looked at Sylas and slowly shook his head. "Sylas, you don't hate Subject. You like Subject, because he promised to always eat what you make; and you love making food." The boy was horribly confused by Sylas' sudden change in behavior. Sylas was normally so friendly.

Tyler started toward Sylas, then froze. He was completely unsure of what to do. Subject and Aurora were his friends, but Sylas was nice too. "Sylas, you can't go! You're supposed to stay and be nice..." He was completely unsure of what to do or what was going on, so he just settled for pleading.

Tyler sat down and promptly started crying, watching Sylas fly away in shock. "H-He was," the little boy sniffled. "He's different now, and I don't like it!" He pulled his knees up to his chest and rolled under the bed, pulling the sheet down on top of him. "I don't like it here anymore."

((When are we fixing him?))

Tyler rolled out from under the bed on the other side, then nodded slowly. "Sylas was probably wrong, and they weren't bad. It was just somethin' James said, but Sylas thought it was real." He stood up and held his arms out to Subject, hoping to be picked up so he didn't have to walk.

((Lotis will fix him.

As in, the next time we see him, Lotis will be mauling him and they'll be on the news. Or something like that. -shrug- Either way, Sylas will come to his senses when he realizes that he's killed a bunch of people during his fight with Lotis.))

Subject picked Tyler up willingly. "James said it? What the heck, Tyler! You should have said something, I would have known at once that it was wrong...I could have told you that." He sighed heavily. "We're definitely going back, then. I just hope it's not too late...James could be going after Quinn again! We've gotta help her!" He shifted Tyler around so the boy was riding piggy-back style, and Subject took off. Aurora grabbed her sword and ran after them, down the stairs and out the door. Even though she didn't know what ws going on.
