The Forgotten Zodiac

6-6-5 grinned up at Flint and nodded.  "I'm your partner!" He said still nodding. "My name is Victor." He continued to grin as Subject introduced his team's numbers. 
"Rynyn. That's Laurie and Subject." He said, glancing at Subject and Laurie behind him. Laurie was still watching Flint in fear, not sure what to think of him, especially since he seemed so calm and nice to them all.
Victor didn't take his eyes off of Flint as the older man warned him about fighting with the guards. He frowned and started to scowl. "That's crappy." He grumbled, crossing his arms and pouting while Flint turned to talk about eating with Subject. Laurie looked confused, while Rynyn looked as though he was thinking about who knows what while listening to the conversations.

"Laurie, Rynyn. Nice names," Flint dipped his head. "Just Subject? That's a bit odd. Don't remember your real name?" Subject gave him no reply, just a cold frown. Flint continued. "At any rate, you should get yourself patched up, Rynyn. You're bleeding pretty badly, there..."

Rynyn looked down at himself. "Oh. I forgot...Crap." He grunted, his blank stare turning into an angry glare. He sighed and looked up at Flint. "What would you suggest I do? I don't normally bother with that." he said, not very enthusiastic about taking care of himself.

"Hmm? Oh, it looks like a simple cut. Stop the bleeding, stitch it up, you'll be good in no time." Flint shrugged. "Not my business, though. I won't attack you unless I have to, but one little word and you could be an enemy. I respectfully refuse to assist you."

"Why won't you help? Jerk!" Subject pouted, then tugged on Rynyn's sleeve. "Come on, I have some stuff in my old cell, if they didn't move it..."

Sighing quietly, Rynyn looked down at Subject and gave a slight nod, not really caring to have Flint's help anyway. He followed Subject to his old cell, and Laurie contined to stay by Subjectas they went. Victor glanced up at Flint, then smiled and hopped after Rynyn, Laurie, and Subject with the intention to make a nuisance of himself as little boys tend to do.

Flint shrugged and followed; he had been staying in Subject's old cell, and he assumed that they would all have to bunk it together, until further notice. There were other rooms, certainly, but all of them were locked except for Subject's.

The cells matched the rest of the floor; dark, rotting wood, nasty curtains that were pulled over cracked windows (that looked out at nothing but a cold steel wall), and a nasty looking bunk bed. Subject smashed his foot through one of the floorboards, pulling up on the panel beneath it. He revealed several rolls of bandages, a sowing kit and even a bottle of what looked like painkiller. "Here," Subject pulled out the needed things. He held the painkiller out to Rynyn, using his other hand to grab the sowing kit and bandages.

Victor watched Subject as he pulled out the medical supplies. He sighed, then turned to Rynyn and grinned, wallking up to him and poking his cut in an attempt to get a reaction from the older boy. After calmly swatting Victor's now bloody hand away, Rynyn took the bottle from Subject and stared at it blankly. "What's this for?..." He asked, at a loss.

"Painkillers. You drink it, it kills pain, I think." Subject shrugged, closing the panel again and dropping the biggest piece of the broken wood over it again. "I have no idea how it works, but it's great. And it tastes like oranges," He giggled a bit, then peeled back Rynyn's bloody shirt, peering at the cut. "This is pretty bad..."

Rynyn looked down at the bottle, then held it back out to Subject. "I don't need it." He said, blinking a couple times. He hadn't, until just then, let himself notice that he was dizzy and things were turning black. "What's... so bad?" He asked, proping himself against the wall.

"Your cut! You've been bleeding all over the place," Subject dropped the bottle, tearing Rynyn's shirt away from the wound. He tugged on the straightjacket he was wearing, frowning. He decided to use the sleeves of it to try and mop up the blood, applying pressure while preparing the needle and string with his free hand and teeth. It was unsanitary, sure, but things were getting desperate. "Laurie, look in the drawers, see if they left any alcohol. I need to sterilize this thing..."

Flint watched from the doorway, frowning a bit. He glanced at Victor, then asked, "You said he's been here before? How does he know what he's doing?"

Rynyn grunted quietly and let out a heavy sigh, slowly sliding down against the wall, making it a little more difficult for Subject to tent to him. Laurie watched Rynyn and Subject blankly and a concerned expression on her face, until Subject tole her to do something. She nodded and was on task before he finished speaking.

Victor shrugged. "2-3-3 said he was here before. I guess you should ask him how he knows, 'cause I don't." He looked down at his bloody hand and smiled, then started rubbing his hands together and watching some of the dried blood smear and the blood that was still wet smear around on his skin.

Flint watched Victor curiously for a moment, before turning back to the young veteran and his friend. Laurie would be able to find some rubbing alchohol in the bottom drawer of the otherwise empty dressers; apparently, the scientists were helping, as they wouldn't normally leave something like that in such a place.

After a few moments of Rynyn's slouching, Subject pulled his friend into a lying postion, and quickly started with the stitching. "Stay awake," He ordered, frowning. "Talk to me, or something. Tell me about Myst, or tell me how you wound up at the city, or...something. I'll listen."

Laurie moved to Subject's side very quickly once she found the rubbing alchohol. Rynyn grunted and was quiet for a moment, reluctant to speak. "...That feels really, really weird." He mumbled, trying to move his head to watch Subject stitch up his cut. After a moment he gave up with a loud sigh. "I hate this." He growled, clenching a fist as Subject continued working.

"Why do you hate it? Hang on, this will sting a lot..." Subject questioned, trying to keep Rynyn talking as he finished the last stitch and poured some of the alcohol on his cleaner sleeve, starting to smear it over Rynyn's wound. He was trying to get as much of it on and in the wound as possible while saving supplies. "Does it hurt? Do you want the painkillers now?"

"It's pointless!" Rynyn scowled as Subject used the alchohol. "Nothing stings, nothing hurts, it's just slow and I hate it!" He grumbled as loudly as he could manage after losing so much blood. He glared up at the ceiling as Subject did his best to clean him up.

Subject blinked in surprise, but kept working. At last, he got the guaze and bandages and started wrapping Rynyn up, then helped him into the bed. "There," He nodded. "You need rest. Consider yourself lucky you can't feel pain, something like that, for that long...probably would have killed me, personally." He sighed, looking down at his straightjacket's sopping sleeves and noting mentally that he probably wouldn't be allowed to change for awhile.

Subject sat next to the bed, watching the others, ensuring that they would make no move to harm his friend while he was down.

"That was...entertaining," Flint grinned a bit. "And interesting. Where'd you learn that stuff?"

"No idea." Subject shrugged. "I just...know it, I guess. Now be quiet, Rynyn needs to rest."

Rynyn scowled as he, with the help of Subject, got into the bed. "Thanks." He muttered. He sighed loudly and relaxed pretty quickly, falling asleep. Laurie moved to sit on the bed by his feet, watching Victor nervously. The boy was now sitting on the floor, toying with his already bloody knife.

Flint just shrugged.

Then a bell rang, the noise clanging through the speakers that seemed to be hidden in every room. Subject froze at once, eyes wide. "Crap...Rynyn, you can't sleep now, we all have to attend dinner, it's...Rynyn!" He shook his friend. "I know how much you need sleep, but it's okay for you to sleep at the dinner table. It's not okay for you to sleep in here, s-so..."

"Come along, Victor. We have level 14s to deal with," Flint turned, marching towards the door at the end of the hall.

Victor looked up, gripping his knife tightly. "Okay!" He called, bounding out the door after Flint. 

Rynyn didn't respond to the shaking for a minute or two. He slowly sat up after a moment, and gazed blearily at Subject. "Whuh?" he grumbled,  clearly not thrilled that he was woken up and had to get up.

"Come on," Subject pulled him off the bed, obviously planning to drag Rynyn there, if he wasn't going to walk on his own. "They gas the rooms 5 minutes after the bell rings, we've go-got to go! It's to keep us from smuggling other people in, because there aren't cameras in here, just audio devic-devices, and...come on!"
