The Forgotten Zodiac

Rynyn smiled and stepped inside after Subject. It was a nice house, though apearantly the walls were thin, because they could hear snores from a sleeping inhabitant upstairs. "So, where to?" Rynyn asked, his voice hushed out of habit.

"The kitchen!" Subject said, not caring to quiet his voice. "Oh, there is one thing we should be careful of. If the police find us, we'll be dragged off to Wyrmhurst ourselves." He suddenly looked stricken with horror. "Maybe they'll carry me off to the different place...I don't want to go back..." He bit his lip and shook his head as though dislodging the thoughts. "The kitchen," He said, though quieter this time. "I'm hungry."

Rynyn sighed loudly and nodded. "Alright then." He started walking through the house until they came to the kitchen. He then started sifting through all the cabinets and the refidgerator. Once he found something he liked, he started eating.

Subject dug around in the fridge for awhile, before finding a small bowl of pudding. He ate it eagerly, grinning ear to ear. "Delicious," He licked his lips and looked around at the house. It was fairly large, but cozy and much warmer than the outside. The walls were white and most of the floors were tiled, at least what Subject could see from here. Which wasn't much, as they hadn't turned on any lights.

Rynyn shut the refridgerator, leaving the kitchen in darkness except for the digital clock on the oven, which read about eleven. Rynyn yawned and looked around. Neither Rynyn or Subject noticed when the snoring stopped, though the squeaky sound of a door opening and closing in the upper level of the house was audible in the kitchen where the boys sat.

Subject ate in peace, gobbling down the pudding like it was a rare treat. Which, it was. It wasn't every day one broke into a fancy house just to eat pudding. He stopped, however, when he heard the door. Subject froze, the spoon halfway to his mouth, his eyes looking at Rynyn in a panic. He had no idea what to do now.

Rynyn scowled. Maybe that other house would have been better. He looked at Subject and thought quietly for a minute. If the people in the house were like what Subject said about not noticing anybody, then maybe they didn't have anything to worry about. He frowned and silently ushered Subject to the side of the room where they'd be less noticable to whoever it was coming downstairs.

The lights came on and a woman about Veneno's age came down the stairs. Heading for the refrigerator that the boys had been sifting through only a few moments ago. After getting a water bottle from inside, she shut the door and went back upstairs, forgetting to turn the lights off.

Subject let out a sigh of relief as the woman left. He went back into the kitchen and sat down, going back to eating his putting. He giggled at Rynyn. "That was close. I don't think she would have seen us, though, but better safe than sorry. Right?"

Rynyn frowned and stared at the edge of the stairs where the woman was last seen. "Why would she leave the lights on?.." He wondered aloud, ignoring Subject's statement. He then went to the refridgerator and opened it again, realizing this time how many water bottles were inside. He shut the door quietly and turned to Subject. "Get up. We have to leave now."

"What?" Subject blinked. "Why would we leave? I like it here, it's warm and now the lights are on!" He protested. "I don't want to go back out into the dark, I hate the dark! I hate it!"

Rynyn frowned deeply, almost to the point of a glare at Subject. "Because, that gir-"
"Because that girl isn't on drugs?" The woman was standing on the bottom step, glaring at the intruders. She stepped down and walked towards them. "I heard you two are worried about the police." She said, stopping a few feet from the boys and crossing her arms disapprovingly at them.

Subject jumped about a foot, dropping his bowl. It shattered against the floor, pudding going everywhere. He stomped his foot, upset at the woman. "Now look what you made me do," He pouted at her, not quite understanding what was going on just yet. Slowly, though, he put two and two together. "You can see us?" He blinked at her.

The woman rolled her eyes and glared at Subject. "Of course not." She grumbled sarcasticly. She looked over at Rynyn. "So, Wyrmhurst?" She raised her right eyebrow and glanced at Subject. "And you, 'different place?'" She reached for a phone sitting on the cabinet beside her.

"No! No, we're not going to the different place, definitely, DEFINITELY not." Subject said, then noticed her reaching for the phone. His attitude switched at once. "I'd leave that alone if I were you," He warned, his tone suddenly quiet and dangerous. "I don't want to hurt you." He had assumed that the woman was attempting to call the police. The earlier deduction that he would be taken to the different place if they were caught was still stuck in his mind.

Subject thought he didn't have to say that he would do anything to stay out of the different place. Hurting people was one of those things in the 'anything' category.

The woman stopped, her hand on the phone. "Why would you do that?" She asked, frowning moving away from the phone, her eyes locked on Subject. She sighed and stared at the boy for a minute longer. "Then where are you going?" She asked.

Subject relaxed, but only slightly. "Wyrmhurst. To help a friend." He crossed his arms, frowning a bit. "Why do you care?" He smiled a bit. "You wouldn't call the police. You'll get caught before we would. Having that much bottled water is illegial, and you don't seem very drugged to me."

The woman smirked a bit. "I see." Her smirk became a little more friendly at Subject's comment. "You seemed to think I was drugged when I first came downstairs." She said with a shrug. She looked over at Rynyn, who was silently giving her a hard glare. "So anyway, tell me more about this friend you're going to help?" She seemed genuinely curious as opposed to her earlier appearance of hostility.

"I wasn't thinking about that. I was thinking about the pudding. Which you made me drop, by the way..." Subject pouted, apparently switching back to his usual demeanor. "I don't know her, but Rynyn is my friend and I would help him with anything. She's his sister, and her name is Myst, I think. That's all I know, really."

The lady rolled her eyes. "And whose pudding were you eating?" She sighed quietly just before Subject answered about Rynyn's sister. "Oh, so you mean you intend  to get her outta that place?" She asked, straightening up a little from leaning over the island in her kitchen.

"Yours, and it was delicious and now it's all over the floor." Subject frowned. "Yes, duh. Because if we don't get her out of Wyrmhurst, she'll be taken to the different place eventually. It's always like that. And she doesn't want to go to the different place, and if she gets taken there, she won't ever get out because getting out is really, really hard and I don't want to go back there, so we're getting her out of Wyrmhurst now so she doesn't get taken to the different place." He said all this in one breath.
