Karsenir kept his eyes on the groud where Syn had just stood. Surely that would take care of him for now. He glanced down at Avis as her hands wrapped around his. He stared at her for a long moment, then moved down and picked her up, wanting to comfort her and stop her fearful shaking. "He's gone now. I think we're safe, Avis." He said after a long moment of watching the edge of earth that Syn had walked off.

Avis curled into his grip, smiling shakily. "H-he was kind of stupid..." Little did she know that Reapers actually had to give their victims final wishes, within certain boundaries. Thankfully for Avis and Karsenir, their request both happened to fall into said boundaries, and Syn kind of had been a little stupid. The full moon shone brightly over their heads. Avis couldn't stand the thought of falling asleep again. They had to get out of here; if what Syn said was true, he wasn't dead at all. And she didn't know if Syn could rock climb or not.

Karsenir held Avis as close as he dared as their nerves slowly calmed a little. "Alright, well how do you suggest we do that? Not to mention we should probably grab the bags he prepared for us before tonight." He said slowly, starting to carry Avis back towards Syn's home. "We can think of a way out while we get there."

"Right," Avis nodded. She kept her arms wrapped around his neck, and she peeked over Karsenir's shoulder at the dropoff, wondering if she would see Syn climbing up any second. But nothing happened, and Avis slowly relaxed. "Are...are you okay?" She asked Karsenir after a few minutes. "Your energy, I mean. Will you be okay? Please, don't push yourself again..." Karsenir's slow recovery hadn't only meant work for her, but it pained her to see her companion in pain like that. She didn't want to see that again if she could avoid it.

Karsenir nodded slowly, glancing back when Avis looked over his shoulder, just making certain that Syn wasn't still around. He faced forward again and kept walking, glad that he could feel Avis relax as he carried her back. "..." He didn't respond quickly to Avis' questions about hs energy. At the moment he wasn't terrible, as the time standing still had helped a tiny bit, but even at a slow pace he knew he would have to stop soon. ",,,I can't not push myself if it means that Syn is going to hurt you." He said finally, still facing forward as the structure they were headed for came into sight.

"But...he's not coming after us anymore." Avis said quietly. She slipped out of Karsenir's arms, walking on her own. "I'll be okay for now. Let's go get those bags," She walked ahead as the house came into view. She nervously peeked in before opening the door, smiling at Karsenir. "See? No one's here. We'll be okay." She said, partially to reassure herself, as well.

Karsenir stopped when Avis slid out of his arms. As he started forward again he frowned and hung his head slightly. "We don't kno-...." He shut his mouth. Surely Avis knew that it was possible for him to come back. Neither of them had any clue how likely it was, but it was definately a possiblitiy and Karsenir didn't want to take that risk, especially since Avis was right...He was growing more and more exhausted. He stood my the door. "I'll watch out here...Just hurry to grab them and pop back out here, okay?" ((Tasumi's))

"Got it," Avis nodded eagerly. She hesitated at the door to Syn's room, though. Didn't he say to never enter, even during the day? Something like that. Surely he meant it like that. Avis waited with her hand on the doorknob, expecting to be shocked or burned or something. But she opened it slowly, poking her head in. "Ohh...I have a bad feeling about this," She bit her lip, wondering what to do. She could see the bags, on the other side of the room, but...for some reason, she didn't feel like she should step in. At all.

"What's wrong, Avis?" Karsenir turned, sticking his head in the doorway where he could see Avis. Frowning in concern for their situation, he sighed and turned back around to keep watching, though now he was thinking about how they should go about getting the bags if Avis couldn't do it. He was sure he wouldn't have trouble pushing past any "bad feelings," but he wasn't going to let Avis stand outside in case Syn showed up. They still didn't have a way to get off the island anyway...

"I dunno. I just...I don't think going in is a good idea..." Avis frowned, but swallowed hard and stepped inside anyways. She moved as quickly as she could manage, snatching up the bags and turning around. The door, however, snapped shut before she could reach it. With a dreadful click, it locked shut. Avis let out a wail and tugged on the door uselessly, then turned to the window on the other side of the room, deciding to try and get out that way. But a familiar white shape came into view that caused Avis to do a double-take and press her back against the door. Syn, the bloodthirsty Reaper, His scythe dragging on the ground behind him. Heading straight for the front door. ((THAR YOU GO. I MADEDED IT DIFFERENT. I don't even remember what I was trying to accomplish with the other one. xDDD))

Karsenir flew around the moment he heard the door shut. "Avis?" He rushed to the door and tried to open it. When he couldn't make it budge he frowned deeply and started banging on it, trying to break it down. "Avis! Are you alright?" He shouted, eyes wide in worry for the girl. He shouldn't have let her go inside there, he should have just gone in and grabbed the bags himself. ...That probably wouldn't have helped too much, as she would be left alone outside. But now she was locked inside, and he didn't know what he could do to get her out again. And to make matters worse he heard someone coming from outside...

Avis peeked a little closer. Syn looked a little...well, messed up. Of course he did; he wasn't dead, obviously, but he had indeed fallen quite the distance. How he made it back to the surface was beyond Avis, but just the way he moved looked painful. In order to walk at all, he would drag his scythe forward, lean against it, and pull his broken and bloody legs forward. "Th...there you go..." He wheezed. "I've proven it to you...haven't I? I can't k...kill myself..." He collapsed, abandoning his scythe and using his arms alone to pull himself along. He stopped at the stairs, apparently unable to even fathom climbing up. He stopped at this point and just rested his head on the stone step, falling unconscious. His white, bloodthirsty form melted away to reveal the Syn they knew from before, although he was definitely still as unconscious as a log. ((You need to post more often. o3o I want to stick this thingies up on dA, dun'cha know.))

Watching Syn approach made Karsenir's blotchy skin crawl. He glared hard as Syn, who looked pitiful to anyone but Karsenir, painfully dragged himself along. He didn't try to stifle a low, angry growl, but stopped himself from doing anything more. "...." Without thinking very much about where Avis was, Karsenir slammed against the door to Syn's room, finally breaking it down and letting the girl out. "You've got the bags?" He asked, the furious scowl still on his face as he looked down to Avis.

Avis seemed to shrink under Karsenir's glare, but she nodded furiously. "I have th-them. See?" She held one out to Karsenir, the other already hanging at her side. She slipped out of the room, her eyes filling with worry and fear when they fell upon Syn. The reaper wasn't moving an inch now, although he was definitely breathing. Avis slowly relaxed after awhile of staring, growing more confident that Syn was out like a light.

Karsnir let out a hard sigh of relief when he saw Avis okay. "Good." He didn't let her look at Syn long. Nearly the moment she stepped out the door he scooped her up and took off. His energy levels were still not the same as they were when they first escaped the circus, but he was still recovering more and more, even though he was burning some energy by moving so quickly and carrying Avis. They soon reached an edge of the ground beneath Karsenir's feet, and he stopped. "..." He sighed and looked around, hoping to find something to make a way across with.

Avis rummaged around in one of the bags, retrieving a rope. "Um...maybe this will help, somehow? We could find a way to get it around one of those trees, and then swing across?" She suggested, digging around a little more. Nothing else seemed helpful; capped horns filled with water, dried foods, plenty of fruit, and one knife in each bag. "I don't think we can do much else..."

Karsenir sighed and set Avis down, shaking his head, frowning. "...Maybe someplace else is closer to the other side?...I can't think of anyway to get across..." He sighed, glaring at the ground. He wasn't about to go back and ask Syn for any assistance, even if he seemed back to the way he was: his uncrazy self. He looked around, hoping to get some ideas to work with, but none came.

"We could find another tree," Avis suggested. "I saw an axe in Syn's room, we could use that and carry the tree to the edge. Would that work? It might...take a little while, but I don't think we're really pressed for time anymore. Not with Syn normal again." She shook her head, thinking hard. But she was tired, and thinking properly when tired was difficult.

"No." Karsenir growled stubbornly. "We're not going back to Syn, I don't care if he seems to be 'normal' again. I don't trust him." He said, not looking at Avis as he spoke. He shook his head and roughly kicked a fallen, rotten fruit over the edge of the island of sorts that he and Avis were stranded on. Unable to think of any plan of escape, he sat down, glaring all the harder at the other side. He was starting to feel fatigued again, and that wasn't helping any plan of action.

Avis plopped down, hot tears forming in her eyes. "I don't want to be stuck here forever," She whimpered, unable to keep herself from crying. She curled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, crying quietly into them. She flinched terribly and wrapped one arm around Karsenir's leg as the ground underneath them gave a rumble. There was a hiss from somewhere below them, and it seemed for a long, heartstopping moment that the island might tip over completely and fall, it leaned so much. But it slowly returned to the center of the gorge, still swaying ever so slightly.
