Sylas turned bright red at said comment. "I try to be nice to everyone," He said, and immediately regretted it. "I...I dunno. I just, like you, I guess." As if saying that made anything better! What the heck was he supposed to say, though? He had no earthly idea, so he decided to just stop there and see how she would react.

Kendra offered the human a smile, her cheecks growing ever-pinker. "Thank... you. I suppose such a thing is surprising, considering our respective races and yet whose goal we are striving to fulfill. Tis been fated that we were to meet, I think," she replied.

"Well...we're not all that different, are we? We look similar enough, humans and demons..." Sylas shrugged. "I don't really believe much in fate, but...if we were 'fated to meet', or whatever, I don't think I mind it. You...I've only known you for a week or so now, but...you're smart and pretty," Internally, Sylas was kicking himself repeatedly and probably screaming a little too. Unable to hide the red flush on his face, he wound up looking down when Rush landed in front of them.

"You two. Perfect. I need fruit." He said.

"What kind?" Sylas blinked.

Rush frowned. "I'm not sure. Something rare, maybe...what's your favorite, Sylas?"

"Apples." He smiled.

"No. Not apples. That won't do at all..." Rush frowned. "What fruit did Jemina have?"

"Who?"

"Ugh...Sylas, Kendra, your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to ask around town and see if anyone knows what fruit the 'Tree of Gifts' would bear. Then find a fruit similar to it, whether in taste or color or shape." Rush frowned. "Got it?"

"We will see it through," Kendra said with a nod. Mentally, she was still processing Sylas' words, and wondering what drove him to say such kind things... but now she had something more pressing to attend to, it seemed. "Come, Sylas. Let us go ask around, as you would say," she said, taking his hand and pulling him along  back towards the ladder. When she got there, however, she paused. "...mayhap you should lead again?" she asked.

Sylas grinned. "Nope. The best way to find your way around any place is to get lost and explore. I know my ways around the forest because of how frequently I got lost in them." He chuckled. "So, you lead. If we get lost, it's okay. We'll find our way."

Kendra smiled, then headed up the ladder in front of Sylas. She reached the top of the ladder and waited for Sylas to come up after her, then held out her hand to help him up. "If you're sure," she said. "Don't mind, you say?"

"Yeah. It's always confused me, though; if you don't mind something, it's okay. If you do mind it, it's not?" Sylas chuckled. "It's a popular human saying. I...spent a lot of time with humans. I didn't like it, but...I guess some of it wore off on me. Foresters are more...formal." He didn't pay much mind to where they were going, trusting Kendra to not get them lost.

Kendra smiled at his words, then straightened up. "Any destination in particular?" she queried, looking over to him. "Or shall I just wander?"

"Well," Sylas grinned. "The best way to get accurate information that I know of is to ask as many people as possible and average the results. This shouldn't be too hard; we'll just wander around and ask whoever we come across."

Kendra nodded, then set off at an easy-to-follow pace through Treefort.

((WELL FRICK, THAT POST DIDN'T WORK.)) Sylas followed, smiling away, oblivious to what he had forgotten. Oblivious to how serious his ailment was. To forget the tree that raised him...if he knew, he would be so upset that he'd just forget it again.~~"So," Verolen looked over at L'arc. "You figured out what you're gonna say?"

L'arc glanced over to Verolen and sighed. "I'll figure something out. Part of me is just hoping that the right words will strike me right as they place that crown on my head, but... I know that I should plan something," he said.

"I'm sure you'll think of something. But for now, I was talking about what you're going to say to the human refugees." Verolen chuckled as they left the treeline, approaching the very camp said humans resided in currently. "I think it'd be good practice if you were to talk to them rather than me."

"Oh." L'arc blinked a couple times, then chuckled. "Yeah, I know what I'm going to say. First, we are going to find the little girl and her dad, and they'll be nice so we'll be convincing. Then we'll ask of overbearing numbers of foresters can come here."

((Last post before I go.))~~"Makes sense. The foresters will bring their own food. They just need to be safe..." Verolen sighed. "Come on, then. Let's go have a chat with our human friends." He grinned and hurried ahead.~"Hey, it's them!" Allie (Or whatever her name was, I don't recall) ran out to meet them, grinning and joyful.

L'arc waved Allie over, and when she got close enough, he scooped her up in a hug. "Hi there," he said. "How's it going?"

"Reallyreally good," She said happily, grinning. "Daddy and mommy scolded me for wandering into the forest, but I sure won't do it again," She smiled. "As fun as it was, it was also scary. But you two saved me," She smiled.

"Well, when this war is over, you come visit us in the forest, okay? You'll be most welcome, of course," L'arc said, smiling at her. He looked around for a moment then asked, "Where's your father, Allie?"

"There," She pointed back towards the camp. The old man from before was at the edge of it, watching them with a smile on his face. "I can't wait for the war to be over, then. Maybe I could make a house and live there!"

"Sure, kiddo. Just make sure your parents know where you are." Verolen chuckled, starting to walk towards the camp. Allie slipped from L'arc's arms and followed him, still smiling.
