"Rush got tired," Verolen shook his head, pulling it from his pocket. "He's having...issues. The Library can't contain his old self, so he gets angry and crabby rather quickly. It's harmful to him and could be harmful to us if he's not careful, so I ordered him to get some rest." He opened the map as they walked, showing the king. Their path would lead them away from the river, passing by the lakes that dotted the area instead. "We'll be staying away from the river, for Bermuda's safety. I don't know how far upriver the Naiads can go, but just to be safe, we're to stay as far away from anything that connects to the sea as possible. So the lakes and creeks are our best bet; we'll sweep around Jura Mount, and cross over the edge of Manakete territory before arriving at the border of the human lands." | |

"No. The further away from the sea that he is, the safer he'll be." Verolen shook his head. "As far as his wellbeing goes...yeah. He'll recover faster here. It's...it's a lose-lose situation. I'll let you make that decision." He sighed. "The main problem is, we don't have any maps of the human area. Now, if we can...we might be able to send Sylas in to do some scouting, or to find a cartographer or something. He's the least suspicious of all of us; he may not be happy about it, but he's still a human. Maybe we can send Kendra in with him, but everyone knows my face...I wouldn't be the greatest choice for a scouting mission." | |

Sylas blushed again, but it was lighter than usual. "Well...I wish I could have done more," He said, looking at the tall saplings. It would be a few years yet before they were returned to their former glory, but the healing waves had all but erased the damage done by the fire. "If the Ether were in the hands of someone stronger, it would have returned Treefort to what it had been before the forest. Minus the treehouses..." | |

Sylas squeezed her hand, smiling. But that little talk had done nothing to ease his worry. The concern that his power was...inadequet for the rest of the forest. He had only barely healed this chunk...if the rest of it ever needed him, would he even be capable of doing anything for it? | |
