The Forgotten Zodiac

"Sweet. Here, you hold onto the list." He passed the piece of paper to Byrne, smiling as he did so. He turned his attention back to his path in time to stop himself before he ran into Timothy.

"Hey," The older human cleared his throat. He still seemed to be in a bit of a bad shape, walking on crutches and whatnot, but he was alive. "I didn't get the chance to thank you yet. For helping me and my daughter."

"Eh? Don't worry about it, old man." Sylas grinned.

"N-no, you don't understand...if there's anything, anything at all that I could ever do..."

"Well, we'll let you know," L'arc said, grinning somewhat awkwardly. "Really, though, it was a pleasure to help. More than a pleasure. It's my duty as king to keep the peace," he tried to explain.

((I said Timothy up there. Man. I'm slipping. .3.))

"Well, it remains a debt I know owe you." Tobias smiled, giving a slight incline of his head. "Again, if there's ever a thing I could do for you or your people, I won't refuse."

"Thanks, Tobias." Sylas shrugged. "We'll keep that in mind. You've already done quite a lot, though..."

"Seriously," L'arc said with a nod, agreeing with Sylas. "In the meantime, get better. I hate to see you on crutches. Did you go see Bershee?"

"I did, but she doesn't quite have enough of her potion to go around. She figured it'd be better to save what's left for something more serious." Tobias shrugged. "I can still oversee the building. It's not too much of a problem." He smiled. "Thanks for your concern."

"Yeah, no problem," L'arc said, smiling back. "All the same, get better. How's Allie?"

"Allie..." Tobias sighed. "Bershee, that witch doctor, says she's in shock. Hasn't said a word since we got back. She's...scared, I suppose. Bershee said that it would get better, but it would take time...I feel terrible. Almost...inadequet as a father..."

"That's not true at all," L'arc said, frowning. "She'll be fine, I'm sure, and none of this is your doing," he said.

"I hope you're right, L'arc." Tobias sighed. "But one thing's for sure, she'll never be one to get along with centaurs. It pains me to say it, but...that's just how this story ends, I suppose."

"You never know," L'arc said. "I never thought I'd be one to get along with demons, but," he grinned and gestured to Verolen. "There are always exceptions."

Tobias smiled a bit, then sighed slightly. "Thank you, still. I honestly can't thank you enough."

"Well, forget about it." Sylas shrugged. "Let's go, L'arc. We've gotta go find Kendra."

"Right behind you," L'arc said, following after Sylas. Byrne had also joined their little group, and was reviewing the list of stuff to gather that Sylas had passed around.

Kendra was close to the middle of camp, sitting on a crate as she sharpened her scythe with some tools a nearby human had lent her. She glanced up as the others approached and smiled, a bit more at Sylas than the others.

"Hey, Kendra." Sylas grinned at the sight of her, talking before she could even hear her. He hurried forward and stood before her, still grinning. "Hey. We're going on a plant hunt. Want to join us? The more the merrier, right?"

Kendra smiled all the wider at the invitation. "I, of course, would love to come with you," she said, rising to her feet and slinging her scythe over her shoulders once more.

"Sweet. I think that's everyone we need, then." Sylas turned, smiling at L'arc. "Shall we go?"

"Right," He said, nodding in reply. "Let's get going, then, Bershee won't wait forever."

"Bershee can't wait forever." Sylas added. "It's important that Tinyville's only doctor is fully capable of meeting the needs of her clients."

"My sister used to say that it's best to be prepared for the inevitable, rather than let it sneak up on you. We should get as much of these supplies as possible, not just however much this says." Bird said, looking at the list. "...oh. I can't read this. I shouldn't be surprised, I guess. What language is it?"

"It's Oceanian," L'arc said, taking the sheet. "I can read it, don't worry," he said, glad that they didn't have to go running back for someone to transcribe the list into a language that they could read.

"Oh, okay. That's good." Bird nodded.

"Regardless of that, you're idea is a good one. We'll need to get as much stuff as possible." Sylas nodded. "Good thing I emptied my bag."

"Yeah, good thing," L'arc agreed. His own bag had a couple survival items in it, but still plenty of room. "Well, first thing on here is Audacius. That's a type of vine, right?" he asked, consulting Sylas on his knowledge.
